In this short volume, written shortly before the end of his life – the first edition appeared in 1988 –, Balthasar offer a kind of last will and testament. Taking up the main threads of his theology, he weaves them together into a meditation on the fundamental condition of Christian existence: letting oneself be begotten anew with Jesus. The book, however, represents more than a summary of Balthasar’s legacy to the Church. Over and above that, it makes a creative contribution to the new evangelization and to the renewal of the family as a primary evangelizing agent.
