It is precisely the Cross of the God-man, Balthasar says, that heals the ruptures threatening to obscure the non-competitive analogy between divine and human freedom highlighted in volume II.1. What shines forth in the apparent defeat of the Cross is the victorious, world-encompassing primacy of the good.
