This sequel to Elucidations continues Balthasar’s program of strengthening the faith of the ordinary Catholic in the midst of confusion generated by ideological interpretations of Vatican II among both pastors and theologians. Like the first volume, then, New Elucidations aims above all at “offering a concise and summary treatment of a few essential questions concerning the substance of the Christian life, experience, and faith, which today are in dispute or — as is true of the majority — are disappearing into oblivion” (from the author’s Preface to Elucidations).
