The present volume (which first appeared in 1972) gathers texts based on Adrienne von Speyr’s visionary contemplation of creation and fall in the first three chapters of Genesis. Adrienne’s approach to these mysteries is neither historical-critical nor allegorical, but theological. The Genesis accounts, for her, are perennially valid disclosures of the essential truths about the nature of the world, man, and history from God’s point of view. It is from this divine vantage point that they reveal themselves for what they are: preparatory prefigurations of Christ and his Cross.
