The ninth volume of Adrienne von Speyr’s Posthumous Works contains the second part of the diary in which Hans Urs von Balthasar recorded her experiences and statements, Earth and Heaven (1975). Subtitled The Time of the Great Dictations, it covers the years between 1944 and 1948, when (as the subtitle suggests) the dictation of texts on Scripture and the mysteries of faith occupied the center of Adrienne’s intellectual and spiritual attention. It is to this period that we owe the bulk of her major writings, whose genesis is illuminated in the pages of the present volume.
