In the eleven chapters of this slim volume, Adrienne von Speyr presents a series of interconnected meditations on the person of the Father as the fontal plenitude, the primal origin from which everything else takes its origin. Adrienne organizes these meditations according to the pattern of the history of salvation, which begins in God before creation, unfolds through the Old and New Testaments, and culminates in eternal life. In all of this, she highlights the Father’s role in personifying the first origin and ultimate end: It is to his paternal fullness, Adrienne says, that all our concepts must return in order to receive their full meaning.
